Lots of people do it. Replay a conversation, confrontation or awkward social exchange in their mind, trying to figure out what they did wrong, what they could have done differently or what the other person is thinking of them. HSPs and empaths seem to do it a lot.
Yet even while we're hitting the rewind button over and over, we know that it's not going to change what happened. In fact, repeatedly thinking about 'negative' or lower vibration events is actually keeping us — our mental, physical, emotional, energetic, and spiritual bodies — in that lower vibration. And when we're operating in that zone, we don't see clearly, think clearly or make decisions for our highest good.
So how do we get unstuck? How can be break out of the loop? Here are a few suggestions you might find effective:
Replay the event as you would have wanted it to be — Rather than focusing on what you didn't or don't want to happen, conjure up the event in the most joyful or peaceful way and replay that scene in your mind or act it out several times.
Rehearse the next encounter with joyful anticipation — Imagine the person is walking up to you right now. In your mind's eye...in your vibrational field...greet them with enthusiasm and a smile. "It's so good to see you!" Imagine they are happy to receive you with equal joy. Rehearsing joy sets the vibrational tone for the next moment and the next...
Focus on a big, important task or goal — When we turn our energy to something that has a big impact on our life, it puts the smaller incidents into perspective. Don't think you have a big, important goal to achieve? Think again. The world needs you to operate in the highest vibration possible and you can't do that if you're stuck in a low vibration emotional replay!
In a nutshell, this is all ego-based stuff...
And that's okay. To a point. The point being: after something has happened that you feel badly about — whether it's a misunderstanding or a full-on confrontation —
you have a choiceto stay in that ego-based low vibration, or you can make an effort to shift to your highest vibration — because that is where you will find the release, compassion, forgiveness and wisdom to heal your relationships.
